About The Role
The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for the engineering component of New Product Development projects, supporting the Head of Mechanical Engineering, the project team, NPD Designers, Quality Department, and NPD Commercial, in delivering innovative and high-quality engineering solutions and services to meet the timing, product specifications, and commercial objectives of the NPD program.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Product development of kitchen appliances from ideation to manufacture.
  • Concept development
  • Design with CAD
  • Building and testing prototypes
  • Validation testing
  • Project engineering
  • Compliance approvals
  • Product manufacture and launch support
  • Manage initial quality audits on pilot and production builds in collaboration with HK QC and quality departments
  • Thermal and mechanical simulation modelling using ANSYS and SolidWorks followed by experimental testing of prototypes to verify.
We’re Interested In Hearing From People Who Have
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar tertiary qualification
  • 0 - 5 years of experience in a similar role
  • Good communicator and team player with a can do hands-on attitude

Design & Build are on the lookout for an intermediate level mechanical design engineer. The project you will be working on is a new build education/ healthcare project. In this role you will be responsible for delivering the technical design of this project, working under an experienced senior engineer who you can learn and develop under. You will be joining reputable HVAC contractor who will be able to provide long term work opportunities with their pipeline of new projects.
Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 3+ years Australian experience in HVAC design, with experience in large scale commercial/ healthcare D&C projects.
  • Experience with a vast variety of HVAC systems, including chilled water infrastructure design.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical services design, load calculations, and energy-efficient design practices.
  • Proficiency in Bluebeam, AutoCAD, and CAMEL. Revit not a requirement but is beneficial to have.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of local and national building codes and standards related to HVAC.
  • Must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.

About your role

Join a dynamic team at IXOM, where you’ll play a key role in designing and developing innovative solutions for the water industry. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you’ll be responsible for creating detailed engineering documentation and contributing to the development of products such as water treatment plants, chemical dosing systems, and other specialised equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Use specialised CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks, AutoCAD) to create detailed 2D drawings and 3D models
  • Develop preliminary design sketches for conceptual analysis
  • Create, review, and update design specifications, documentation, and material lists
  • Prepare comprehensive design and fabrication documentation packages for project engineers, fabricators, and installers
  • Ensure all drawings and assemblies meet customer specifications, codes, and relevant industry standards
  • Estimate material and production costs for proposed designs
  • Research and evaluate new materials for design applications
  • Organise and maintain engineering documentation and design archives
  • Collaborate closely with project teams to ensure timely and accurate submission of design deliverables
  • Construct prototypes and validate designs with the project team when required
  • Support project engineering activities including procurement, factory build supervision, engineering documentation, and tendering assistance

Who are we looking for?

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experiencein a similar engineering or design role.
  • Proficiency in 2D/3D CAD software, particularlySolidWorksandAutoCAD, along with engineering analysis tools.
  • Akeen eye for detailand a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Aself-starter mindset, comfortable working both independently and within a small, collaborative team.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.
  • Strongcommunication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with internal teams and external clients—both written and verbal.
  • Atertiary qualificationin an engineering discipline preferred.
  • Solid understanding ofSHEQ standards, relevantAustralian regulations, and statutory compliance.

Applied is seeking a full-time Mid-Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for day-to-day tasks related to mechanical design and engineering, including creating 3D models, conducting simulations and analysis, and reviewing and improving existing designs. Applied Robotics complete turn key projects consisting of Special Purpose Machinery, Vision Systems, Custom End Effectors, Conveying and Robotics that require a Mechanical Design Engineer to leverage knowledge across the full spectrum of Mechanical Automation. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful completion of projects and contribute to the development of innovative automation solutions.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
At least 5 years of experience in mechanical design and engineering
Proficiency in CAD software, such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD
Experience with designing and implementing automation systems
Strong knowledge of mechanical principles, materials, and manufacturing processes
Ability to analyse and solve complex engineering problems
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Attention to detail and ability to meet project deadlines
Experience with robotics and automation technologies is a requirement
Familiarity with safety standards and regulations including AS4024 and AS4991

About your role

Join a dynamic team at IXOM, where you’ll play a key role in designing and developing innovative solutions for the water industry. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you’ll be responsible for creating detailed engineering documentation and contributing to the development of products such as water treatment plants, chemical dosing systems, and other specialised equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Use specialised CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks, AutoCAD) to create detailed 2D drawings and 3D models
  • Develop preliminary design sketches for conceptual analysis
  • Create, review, and update design specifications, documentation, and material lists
  • Prepare comprehensive design and fabrication documentation packages for project engineers, fabricators, and installers
  • Ensure all drawings and assemblies meet customer specifications, codes, and relevant industry standards
  • Estimate material and production costs for proposed designs
  • Research and evaluate new materials for design applications
  • Organise and maintain engineering documentation and design archives
  • Collaborate closely with project teams to ensure timely and accurate submission of design deliverables
  • Construct prototypes and validate designs with the project team when required
  • Support project engineering activities including procurement, factory build supervision, engineering documentation, and tendering assistance

Who are we looking for?

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experiencein a similar engineering or design role.
  • Proficiency in 2D/3D CAD software, particularlySolidWorksandAutoCAD, along with engineering analysis tools.
  • Akeen eye for detailand a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Aself-starter mindset, comfortable working both independently and within a small, collaborative team.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.
  • Strongcommunication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with internal teams and external clients—both written and verbal.
  • Atertiary qualificationin an engineering discipline preferred.
  • Solid understanding ofSHEQ standards, relevantAustralian regulations, and statutory compliance.
  • Experience inprocess industries, particularlywater treatmentand/orchemical engineering preferred. Exposure todesign and build projectsinminingormanufacturingis highly desirable.
