RoleAs a Solution Architect specialising in Market Risk, you will lead the design and implementation of cutting-edge solutions to meet complex business needs. You will collaborate with stakeholders to translate requirements into technical architectures, leveraging your expertise in AWS, ActiveViam, and big data technologies.
Your role will involve integrating and optimising systems for real-time risk analytics, driving cloud-native modernisation, and ensuring alignment with enterprise standards. By mentoring teams and improving existing processes, you will play a key role in enhancing our risk management capabilities.
What You Offer- Extensive experience as a Solution Architect, ideally within financial services or risk management, with a strong understanding of market risk concepts and methodologies.
- Proficiency in AWS cloud services, ActiveViam (ActivePivot), and big data technologies such as Spark and Kafka, with hands-on expertise in data warehousing and transformation tools.
- Strong programming and scripting skills, including Python, Java, and SQL, combined with experience in designing scalable, high-performance systems.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

About The Role
With our continued growth, we’re looking for a Market Risk Manager to join our dynamic team in Sydney. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in managing market risk across the company and ensuring the stability and success of our trading operations.
We operate a hybrid model, with 1 day WFH per week.
Your Mission at Life Trading
As the Market Risk Manager, you will be responsible for identifying, assessing, and managing market-related risks to safeguard the company’s financial stability. You’ll work closely with the Trading, Technology, and Operations teams to ensure a strong risk management framework and culture is in place. From monitoring market conditions to ensuring regulatory compliance, you will play an instrumental role in driving the risk management strategy of the company.
What We’re Looking For
- Strong understanding of derivative markets, including options
- Proficiency with risk management tools and quantitative analysis
- Ability to assess financial impacts of market fluctuations and provide actionable recommendations
- Experience in developing and implementing risk frameworks to support consistent risk appetite across the company
- A finance relevant degree with proven experience in market risk management (ideally including trading experience)

- Understanding of algorithmic risk management
- 3+ years of experience building trading models

What role will you play?
As a Quantitative Market Risk Analyst/Senior Analyst, you will be responsible for building and maintaining Market Risk models including, but not limited to, regulatory capital models for Traded Market Risk (under APS 116), and Interest Rate Risk in the Banking Book (under APS 117). You will engage with various stakeholders, build out new models, and enhance existing models to meet the dynamic requirements of Market Risk.
What You Offer
- Strong understanding of fundamental quantitative/computational finance principles and techniques and excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficient programming skills and ability to traverse various programming languages (such as Python, R, and SQL)
- Ability to communicate effectively with key stakeholders
