Design and Build have partnered with a leading engineering business that supports the water and wastewater markets. They provide turn-key systems for a wide range of environmental sewerage & water infrastructure solutions, including large scale developments, councils, water authorities and extensive retail and channel partners.
Role Overview:
This role supports high-complexity, high-value Tier 1 infrastructure projects, often interfacing with Sydney Water, Melbourne Water, or major contractors. The Lead Design Engineer manages multi-disciplinary engineering inputs, oversees end-to-end design lifecycle, and liaises closely with internal stakeholders, clients, and site teams to ensure best-for-project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as Design Lead on Tier 1 projects with civil/mech/struct integration
- Coordinate internal and external consultants across all design stages
- Manage design scope, risks, and value engineering opportunities
- QA/QC and verification of engineering documents to utility standards
- Engage directly with clients and Tier 1 builders on technical matters
- Contribute to capability uplift and process standardisation
- 10+ years of relevant engineering experience, including D&C delivery
- Strong background in Tier 1 projects (e.g. Sydney Water, Fulton Hogan, Downer)
- Deep technical knowledge in civil infrastructure, mechanical piping, or structural concrete within the water industry
- Capable of verifying and signing off on engineering deliverables to major authority standards
- Strong commercial and stakeholder management acumen
- Ideally chartered (CPEng) or actively working toward it

Position Overview
We’re looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer with strong experience in substation design and power system studies. In this role, you’ll be responsible for delivering detailed designs for high voltage substations, including system analysis, earthing design, and ensuring compliance with relevant standards. You should have a solid understanding of both primary and secondary electrical systems, along with experience in protection design and fault investigations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead detailed electrical design for HV substations, including layout, equipment specification, and protection systems.
- Conduct power system studies including Load flow, Short circuit, Protection coordination, Arc flash analysis, and Earthing system design and modelling
- FEED and Detail design Engineering
- Produce and review engineering drawings: SLDs, schematics, GA/layouts, wiring diagrams, and cable schedules.
- Use power system analysis tools (ETAP, SKM, PowerFactory) to validate design and system performance.
- Ensure engineering deliverables comply with relevant Australian and international standards, utility specifications, and internal QA processes.
- Assist in proposal preparation, project planning, and resource allocation.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide design reviews and approvals as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 8+ years of experience in HV substation design and power system modelling.
- Strong working knowledge of ETAP and/or SKM Power Tools (other tools like DIgSILENT an advantage).
- Demonstrated experience with HV earthing system design and modelling.
- Familiarity with AS 2067, AS 7000, and utility-specific design standards.
- Experience with protection relays and secondary system schematics.
- Excellent documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Desirable Qualifications
- CPEng and/or RPEQ certification (or working towards).
- Experience with IEC 61850 and substation automation systems.
- Background in renewable energy integration and utility grid connections.

The Opportunity
We are seeking multiple talented Electronic Systems Design Engineers to support the Battlespace Communication System (BCS) Program as we plan for future work. This role will see you applying your hardware skills to either our core product, upgrading the capability to integrate with related maritime communications projects, or modernization of the joint air battlespace management system.
BCS is a next generation networking product that is the centerpiece for multiple projects and campaigns. The BCS combines both developmental and off-the-shelf hardware and software to provide world leading communications capability for users. It can be rapidly deployed from anywhere, and its modular design provides a flexible, scalable solution that can be customized for various mission needs.
In this role, you will leverage next generation technology, to support the warfighter in the rapidly evolving threat environment.
Responsibilities
- Development of diverse engineering solutions for Electrical and Electronic solutions and custom electrical power equipment.
- Development of engineering documentation and configuration management of system hardware.
- Work with the project team to ensure the engineering scope is delivered within the quality, schedule and budgetary constraints of the project
- Communication and collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team, in a conscientious way.
Essential:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering
- Applicants must be Australian Citizens to meet Defence security requirements.
- Experience in Electronic system design, including schematic capture and printed circuit board design, using CAD software such as Altium Designer.
- Experience with System Design and compliance to Australian standards.
- Experience in writing technical reports and developing documentation related to electrical systems.
- Experienced in the use of electrical test and measurement equipment such as multi-meters, insulation resistance, and earth leakage meters.
- Experience in the development of work instructions and test procedures for the periodic testing for electrical safety of electrical systems.
- Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ, Electrical) in Electrical Engineering, or eligibility to obtain.
- Experience within Defence or complex engineering project environments is desirable.
- Experience in Electrical System Design and Development through to Production, and compliance with Australian and Defence standards.
- Experience in power distribution design up to ELV voltages.
- Proven experience in providing direction and/or delegating work effectively within engineering teams to ensure project objectives are met.
- Knowledge of Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) and Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) considerations with respect to electrical/electronic design (e.g., wire harness design, grounding and shielding design techniques, lightning protection).
- Experience in integration of various systems and components within complex engineering projects.
- Experience in the development of production drawings and materials for the production of Cable & Wire Harnesses.
- Experience in the design of AC-DC and DC-AC power systems and electronic circuits.

Here's how a Senior Design Engineer for our Solar Australia office contributes to our team:
ResponsibilitiesIn conjunction with Solar Engineering Manager, works with consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors to coordinate technical requirements and specifications while ensuring all project deliverables are met on schedule.
Ensures project administration correspondence and compliance with documentation requirements relevant to construction projects.
Understands design and procurement schedules and how they align with construction schedules and project requirements.
Reviews Request for Proposal (RFP) documentation to understand and adhere to key design and engineering requirements.
Manages and develops conceptual designs in AutoCAD (or equivalent), preliminary engineering analyses, and performance evaluations providing oversight to Junior Design Engineers to meet client deliverables, standards, codes, and specifications.
Manages the development and accuracy of pursuit performance metrics, inclusive of a PVsyst Report.
Reviews design documents, shop drawings, datasheets, and other applicable technical information.
Understands equipment specifications to integrate design strategies and techniques to construction plans and drawings.
Reviews detailed engineering drawings (civil, electrical, structural or others) to ensure compliance with applicable project requirements, construction practicality and efficiency, codes, and standards.
Reviews contract documents and specifications to identify overall project requirements and understand impacts and implications to the construction engineering design.
Calculates energy losses for designs and review and implement strategies to optimize the overall performance of the system.
Effectively communicates with internal and external stakeholders to resolve issues and develops and maintains strong customer focused relationships with all stakeholders.
Postsecondary degree or diploma in a related discipline (e.g., electrical engineering, civil engineering, construction management, project management, or etc.).
2+ years of engineering experience. Preference will be given to those with experience working in design and engineering roles within utility-scale solar project construction.
Working with contract and subcontracts with an ability to understand contractual obligations and responsibilities related to project scope.
Strong organizational and time management skills, high level of detail orientation and ability to multitask and prioritize conflicting and tight deadlines.
Working knowledge of various computer software programs, including AutoCAD and Excel specifically.
Ability to learn new software programs and apply understanding to perform technical analyses and problem-solve.
Ability to read and understand 2D and 3D construction drawings and specifications.
Desire to work in a design function, with an interest in utility scale solar construction, engineering, and design.
Effective verbal and written communications skills.
Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

The Opportunity
Consolidated Power Projects is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer - Secondary to join our growing Engineering team in Adelaide.
Secondary Design Engineers deliver timely and accurate technical designs while supporting field staff, customers and colleagues. The successful candidate will be able to produce accurate precision designs required for secondary protection and control (PAC) systems in the high voltage utility and renewable sectors. You will deliver complex internal and external secondary system design projects, and demonstrate capability of checking secondary system design outputs.
You will join a highly regarded in-house Design & Engineering team of over 140 experienced professionals and play an integral role in the successful delivery of various industry leading projects.

Here's how a Senior Design Engineer for our Solar Australia office contributes to our team:
Responsibilities
- In conjunction with Solar Engineering Manager, works with consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors to coordinate technical requirements and specifications while ensuring all project deliverables are met on schedule.
- Ensures project administration correspondence and compliance with documentation requirements relevant to construction projects.
- Understands design and procurement schedules and how they align with construction schedules and project requirements.
- Reviews Request for Proposal (RFP) documentation to understand and adhere to key design and engineering requirements.
- Manages and develops conceptual designs in AutoCAD (or equivalent), preliminary engineering analyses, and performance evaluations providing oversight to Junior Design Engineers to meet client deliverables, standards, codes, and specifications.
- Manages the development and accuracy of pursuit performance metrics, inclusive of a PVsyst Report.
- Reviews design documents, shop drawings, datasheets, and other applicable technical information.
- Understands equipment specifications to integrate design strategies and techniques to construction plans and drawings.
- Reviews detailed engineering drawings (civil, electrical, structural or others) to ensure compliance with applicable project requirements, construction practicality and efficiency, codes, and standards.
- Reviews contract documents and specifications to identify overall project requirements and understand impacts and implications to the construction engineering design.
- Calculates energy losses for designs and review and implement strategies to optimize the overall performance of the system.
- Effectively communicates with internal and external stakeholders to resolve issues and develops and maintains strong customer focused relationships with all stakeholders.
- Postsecondary degree or diploma in a related discipline (e.g., electrical engineering, civil engineering, construction management, project management, or etc.).
- 2+ years of engineering experience. Preference will be given to those with experience working in design and engineering roles within utility-scale solar project construction.
- Working with contract and subcontracts with an ability to understand contractual obligations and responsibilities related to project scope.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, high level of detail orientation and ability to multitask and prioritize conflicting and tight deadlines.
- Working knowledge of various computer software programs, including AutoCAD and Excel specifically.
- Ability to learn new software programs and apply understanding to perform technical analyses and problem-solve.
- Ability to read and understand 2D and 3D construction drawings and specifications.
- Desire to work in a design function, with an interest in utility scale solar construction, engineering, and design.
- Effective verbal and written communications skills.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

Caterpillar’s Resource Industries, Wheeled Products Engineering, is seeking a Senior Engineer to work in the Burnie Tasmania area. The highly valued role is in the Cab System Team. The position will lead New Product Introduction, Continuous Product Improvement, Quality, and maintenance projects. As a senior engineer, you will be responsible for project scope, budget, timelines, quality, product cost, and associated outcomes. The successful candidate will have the skills to lead a diverse group of people to achieve common goals. Strong communication and organizational skills are required for this position.
What You Will Do:
Manage cab design projects from concept through production and provide support throughout the product lifecycle.
Lead a cab systems design team to create solutions for NPI, NTI, quality enhancements, assembly line issues, and commercial requests.
Overseeing project progress, cost, and quality; communicating status with stakeholders and participating functional areas; addressing and resolving problems.
Accountable for creating and maintaining Annual Business Plan budget for your team.
What skills you will have:
Product Design and Development:
10 years of relevant complex system and component design/development.
Proficient in ProE/Creo Design and Teamcenter.
Recent cab, operator station, machine design, structures experience is strongly desired.
Technical Excellence:
Excellent written and verbal communication.
Ability to be a self-starter with strong technical leadership skills.
Knowledgeable in industry standards related to construction and mining machine design.
Caterpillar or Large Construction OEM design experience.
Project Management:
Capability to manage time, cost, and quality objectives for complex system design projects.
Proven ability to perform complex assignments, prioritize workload, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for day-to-day tasks related to mechanical design and engineering, including creating 3D models, conducting simulations and analysis, and reviewing and improving existing designs. Qualifications

The Role We are seeking an experienced Principal Civil Design Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team. In this role, you’ll lead the design, coordination, and delivery of land development and stormwater infrastructure projects — from concept planning through to detailed design and construction support. Your technical input will directly influence community outcomes, planning approvals, and the long-term resilience of essential infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver design packages for land development, stormwater systems, bulk earthworks, drainage, utilities, and associated civil infrastructure.
- Develop high-quality design documentation using 12d Model , Civil 3D , and AutoCAD .
- Provide technical guidance, coordinate with internal disciplines, and mentor junior engineers.
- Liaise with councils, statutory authorities, and clients to progress approvals and resolve design challenges.
- Ensure designs meet local authority requirements, engineering standards, and regulatory frameworks. Accreditation in Water Design MRWA
- Prepare and review technical reports, design calculations, specifications, and tender documentation.
- Support project delivery through site inspections, RFIs, and design revisions during construction.
