Our Power Systems Analysis & Grid Connections team partners with developers, utilities, and network service providers to deliver comprehensive grid connection services across all stages of a project. Our team provides:

  • Feasibility and preliminary assessments
  • Power system modelling and simulation
  • Generator performance standards (GPS) studies
  • Connection application package development (R0 and R1) and ad-hoc support
  • R2 model validation and GPS compliance assessment
  • Ongoing technical advisory through commissioning

We’re seeking a leader with acan-do attitude, strongtechnical and consultative skills, and the ability toprioritise and deliver. Your Qualifications & Experience

To be successful in this role, you’ll ideally bring:

  • A recognisedBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Chartered status with Engineers Australia is a plus
  • Extensive experience inpower system analysisfor utility-scale networks, including steady-state, dynamic and electromagnetic transient (RMS/EMT) studies
  • Proven experience with thegenerator connection processunder theAustralian National Electricity Rules (NER)or similar frameworks
  • Proven track record in grid connection and GPS studies (R0, R1), and R2 commissioning plan and hold point testing plus model validation studies for utility-scale Inverter-Based Resources (IBRs)
  • Strong knowledge ofNERandGenerator Technical Performance Standards (GTPS)
  • Background inconsulting engineering, with the ability to manage multiple projects and clients
  • Experience managingconsulting engagements, including client liaison, commercial oversight, and scope management
  • Proficiency inPSS/EandPSCAD; experience withDIgSILENT PowerFactory and PSSE SINCALis a plus
  • Familiarity withsynchronous and non-synchronous connections, includingstorage and hybrid technologies
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Key Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Research and Standards Development Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible in gathering all necessary documents, information, materials, and programs for the conduct of system studies and analysis in accordance with the mandate of TechMD, such as measures to improve grid operation and adoption of appropriate technology. Responsible in the preparation of documentary requirements for compliance with audit findings and monitoring of the implementation of SEIL. Provides technical support to technical groups.
Gathers all necessary related reference documents, information, materials, and programs for the conduct of system studies and analysis;
Conducts data gathering and research for the conduct of technical studies and analysis;
Formulates plan for the conduct of benchmarking with other utilities on best practices and performance indices applicable to power system;
Participates in meetings with the technical groups on matters pertaining to system studies and analysis;
Attends discussion meetings with various manufacturers and suppliers regarding new technologies for the technical studies;
Prepares the necessary documents for compliance with audit findings;
Attends meetings with technical groups in relation to compliance with audit findings;
Coordinates with the technical groups for the enhancement of technical standards for compliance with audit findings;
Reviews SEIL of Single Line Diagrams (SLD) submitted by the technical groups;
Prepares Annual Progress Report on SEIL labelling;
Conducts compliance audit on installed SEIL on substations and transmission lines;
Monitors the progress and adherence of the technical groups on the standard labelling system;
Recommends revisions of the SEIL Manual, if necessary, in coordination with the SEIL Task Force.
Requirements:
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineer
Registered Electrical Engineer
Four (4) years in the field of power system with two (2) years of relevant experience
Oral and written proficiency
Undergone at least 16 hours of relevant supervisory trainings/seminars
Knowledge in power system theories and applications and national and international standards
With relevant trainings on Quality, Safety and Environmental Standards
