How You Will Fulfill Your Potential
  • Support senior Analysts in analyzing individual companies and equities, including publishing reports, initiating sales calls, and marketing investment opinions.

  • Produce reports summarizing findings and predictions, manage sector news flow, and contribute to sector views.

Qualifications

Skills & Experience:

  • Relevant equity research experience, especially covering sectors related to ANZ Banks, preferred.

  • Excellent communication skills in English.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced market economist to join the Australia and New Zealand Economics team. This role offers the opportunity to shape the firm’s macroeconomic views, contribute to global thematic research, and engage directly with clients and internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Pallas Capital is a debt and equity fund manager specialising in the financing of Australian and New Zealand Commercial Real Estate. The business was established in direct response to the growing lack of credit in Australia’s mid-range property market; a situation exacerbated by the shortage of reputable, risk-adverse, non-bank lenders.

Fortis our property development-management business, has a portfolio of more than $750 million in successfully completed residential and commercial projects, with a further $60 million to be completed by the end of the year.

Due to continued growth, in Pallas Capital there is an opportunity for a Senior Research Analyst in Fund Portfolio Management team.

About the Role

The Senior Research Analyst plays a key role in supporting the management and strategic positioning of Pallas’ suite of wholesale fund and other investment type products. The new role provides analytical and operational support across market and competitor data sets and research, and internal and external facing content, including responses to due diligence and research rating agency requests. Specifically, leading research on private debt investment opportunities, including due diligence and performance analysis, while also providing insights to product development, distribution teams and senior management.

Working closely with the Associate Director – Fund Portfolios, Portfolio Analyst and broader Operation, Marketing & Distribution teams, this role is ideal for someone who combines strong analytical capability with a keen interest in market research, fund strategy, and stakeholder communication and relationship management.

This position is based full-time in Pallas Capital’s Sydney (HQ) or Melbourne Office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct ongoing APAC (and other jurisdictions as required) quantitative and qualitative research on industry and market trends, investment activity, and macroeconomic indicators and positioning and credit/origination policies
  • Maintain a competitor analysis database, tracking product positioning, pricing, and relative performance metrics relative to each Pallas fund or product, identify potential threats and opportunities that could impact the funds
  • Develop research methodologies and strategies to address specific project requirements. Present findings and recommendations to senior management
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate research insights into business strategies
  • Stay abreast of industry developments and emerging trends to provide forward-thinking recommendations and insights for internal use and external publication, contributing to investment communications and content strategy
  • Assist in the monitoring and analysis of portfolio performance across wholesale investment funds
  • Oversee market outlook (lending and origination) commentary for monthly and quarterly reporting on fund performance, and other ad hoc applications
  • Support internal reporting for senior stakeholders, ensuring accuracy and consistency across fund data
  • Analyse different fund structures and propose solutions to enhance portfolio performance and/or other features to optimise product offering and benefit Pallas Capital’s strategic objectives
  • Participate as required in meetings and calls (including webinars) with internal and external stakeholders, providing expert insights into product positioning relative to competitor landscape and investment strategy
  • Project manage the coordination and submission of responses for annual research rating firm agency reviews and periodic product assessments
  • Assist as required in the preparation and/or procurement of Single Asset / Fund Investment Memoranda, ensuring materials are compelling and accurate and reflect the asset class, and structural market and macroeconomic landscape
  • Monitor customer complaints data to identify relevant insights and opportunities for improvement, including identification of root causes and solutions (as it relates to product design or client services) for best in class positioning in market
  • Draft and maintain high-quality market/ competitor landscape and product responses to investor due diligence questionnaires (DDQs) and fund platform queries.
  • Oversee timely reporting/ communication with platforms/ WRAPs and research rating firms, as required
  • Support updates to a variety of content applications through investment pitch decks, fund summaries, and other product collateral covering market/ competitor landscape with liaison with other teams
  • Distil research findings to senior leadership and stakeholders through reports and presentations
  • Assist in process improvements to enhance the efficiency and quality of reporting and fund communication workflows
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of tools and outputs that support performance analytics and benchmarking across a range of business management metrics
  • Leading and overseeing research projects from inception to completion, ensuring methodological rigor and relevance to business goals
  • Work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • As required travel for presentations, briefings, meetings and conferences between business and third-party premises (including interstate)

About You

  • Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Commerce, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • Strong understanding of wholesale investment structures, managed funds, and capital allocation processes.
  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and financial modelling; knowledge of statistical analysis software (e.g., SQL, Python, SPSS) and data visualisation tools (such as Tableau or Power BI) are a strong advantage.
  • Working knowledge of AI research tools such as Perplexity Deep Research.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly for investor and stakeholder audiences.
  • Attention to detail and ability to produce clear, accurate, professional and insightful reporting materials.
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally and managing deliverables across multiple workstreams. Strong time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks with competing priorities and deadlines
  • Ability to see through to conclusion complex queries
  • Competent at directing your own thorough research using various data sources and tools and executing ideas
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to interpret data and draw meaningful conclusions.

  • 5 years’ experience in funds management, investment analysis, corporate finance, investment banking or financial services
  • Strong understanding of the Commercial Real Estate debt and equity markets
  • Experience in translating research findings into actionable business recommendations aligned with business strategic objectives.
  • Experience in supporting production of investment reports, fund updates, or IMs.
  • Exposure to wholesale investor markets, platform structures, or fund distribution is highly desirable
  • Prior experience working with investor relations, asset managers, or rating agencies is a plus

ECONOMICS & RESEARCH AT GAPMAPS
A unique opportunity with global impact has become available for a Research Analyst/Consultant to join the Economics and Research team at GapMaps. In this role, you will demonstrate a passion for solving complex commercial problems through data.
Reporting to our Advisory Directors, you’ll support the delivery of high-impact consulting projects for clients across global markets and industries. You’ll combine market research, economic analysis, modelling and client engagement to deliver data-led insights that shape property networks, investment strategies and new market growth.
THE ROLE
  • Support in-depth international and domestic market research.
  • Perform supply and demand analysis, forecasting, and modelling to uncover trends and business opportunities.
  • Interpret and report on qualitative and quantitative data to produce compelling insights for clients.
  • Contribute to client workshops, presentations, and collaborative sessions.
  • Help build and refine new data-driven products, tools, and evaluation methods.
  • Support the business to provide strategic advice to clients using location intel and support their decision-making with confidence.
  • Partner with senior Advisory Directors to support and deliver consulting projects globally.

Qualifications
