About the Role
Mars Recruitment is currently working with a global financial institution who is seeking an Investment Compliance Analyst in Sydney. Part of the Client Delivery team, the role is fundamental to the investment compliance monitoring process, ensuring adherence to client IMAs and assisting in the day-to-day investment process.
The successful candidate will have industry experience in Investment Compliance and can interpret investment mandate agreements, the Analyst will play a key role liaising directly with clients and investment managers, regarding investment guideline monitoring, ensuring high quality service delivery are met.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform daily monitoring of investment compliance rules within client IMAs.
- Engage with clients and investment managers on guideline monitoring, responding to queries and resolving issues efficiently.
- Assist in related compliance activities, including Substantial Shareholder, Exposure, and derivatives monitoring.
- Support service delivery with a focus on timeliness, and client satisfaction.
- Collaborate with internal teams to enhance service quality and address operational issues.
- Assist with implementing and optimising compliance processes and service enhancements.
- Participate in new client onboarding and activity setup.
- Contribute to business requirement documentation, user acceptance testing (UAT), and project governance.
Skills & Experience:
- Ideally 2-3 years of experience in Investment Compliance or a related field.
- Ability to interpret investment mandates and implement corresponding rules in compliance systems.
- Experience investigating and resolving breaches of mandate restrictions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, client-focused and great interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with financial instruments, including derivatives.
- Experience with Bloomberg, Hi-Portfolio (desirable).
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant field.

Your New Role
The Senior Analyst, Investments Data will assist the data enablement manager implementing solutions related data acquisition, data mastering and data quality on various data/Investment management platforms, to ensure accurate and timely delivery of data to the investment department and the analytical insight team, as well as to operationalize data governance policies and guidelines.
Some of your duties will include, but not limited to:
- Establish and maintain high standards for data quality and governance. Advise on developing and enforcing good management practices throughout data lifecycles, translate data policy and guideline into operationalized processes per Investment and Enterprise platform end user's expectation.
- Understand the business user profiles on the Investment and Enterprise Platforms/IBOR hub and guide business users in refining their use cases.
- Assist the lead analyst/product owner in collaborating with cross-department teams such as Front Office, Operational, and Project teams to gather and validate business requirements for data solutions across various Investment and Enterprise Platforms.
- Continuously review fit for purpose assessments on Data Sources, conduct Data Impact Assessment and ensure comprehensive data solution evaluation and alignment with business needs regularly.
What You'll Need
- Minimum 5 years' experience in investment management or asset owner with investment operations capability with profound understanding of financial markets and financial instruments across multiple asset classes, coupled with the ability to guide teams through complex financial data structures.
- Familiar with DCAM training and modern data management framework
- Experience with Data/Investment Management Platform such as Finbourne - LUSID, MSCI BarraOne, Aladdin, S&P Ilevel, Calypso, Charles River are highly appreciated.
- Extensive experience with investment data technologies and architectures, across the front to back-office value chain, and capable of guiding teams in their effective use.
- Excellent understanding of data management functions and usage of investment data in its various forms.
- Comprehensive understanding of the differences between investment (IBOR) and accounting (ABOR) books of record, with a focus on their application in Asset Management and Asset Owner contexts.

We're looking for a compliance controls testing analyst who can:
- drive or work as a team member on investment suitability and cross border controls review and testing of UBS Global Wealth Management (GWM) division
- analyse and assess risks arising from both the business and support functions
- identify and evaluate the design, implementation and effectiveness of controls designed to address those risks
- document and communicate review findings, root causes and risks, and prepare reports of reviews for UBS senior management
- develop recommendations for items that solution owners should consider when finalizing their action plans
- review remediation actions submitted by the business for closure to assess whether these have addressed the original risks
- successfully collaborate with peers in and across Group Compliance, Regulatory and Governance (GCRG)
- develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders as well as senior management
You will be working in GWM Monitoring & Surveillance (M&S) based in Sydney. M&S is an independent function within the 2nd line of defense, that supports GCRG in achieving its strategic, operational, financial and compliance objectives.
We do this by assessing key processes as well as governance, risk management, and the control environment within the key business divisions of the APAC (Australia) region.

In your role, you will be covering the reviews related to the GWM division.
Your expertise
- 3-4 years experience in external or internal audit or compliance controls testing within the financial industry. This experience could have been gained at a Big 4 firm, consulting firm, or in an internal audit or compliance controls function within a financial institution
- strong analytical skills and quantitative approach to problem solving
- you are able to quickly understand complex processes and challenge the status quo, identify risks and inadequacies in procedures
- willingness to keep up with industry, regulatory developments and learn new concepts and methods,
- ability to effectively communicate with senior stakeholders
- risk focused, and capable of using data analytics (Alteryx, Microsoft PowerBi, Tableau etc) to gain insights into business trends and identifying outliers
- reliable when working on your own, with sound judgment for when to escalate issues

The Identity and Access Technology (IAT) Teams are an integral part of the wider Group Security practice. IAT consists of 3 Crews focused on Identity Lifecycle Management, Workforce Authentication and Privileged Access Management. These Crews are supported by 3 enabling teams, focused on Identity Adoption, Oversight and Access Design. Together they deliver a range of critical services to the organisation ensuring our staff and partners have the right access, to the right systems, at the right times.
The Identity Oversight team is tasked with forming a continuous objective view of the control landscape (DE/ OE) for Identity and Access technology, based on existing data, reports and self-assessments. This view will be supplemented via independent testing (automated and/ or manual), confirming a level of process effectiveness prior to any independent review. The team will also coordinate action plans across the applicable Identity teams to ensure that risks/ observed deviations are being managed and remediated in-line with committed timeframes. The team will work closely with key stakeholders including, but not limited to our Chief Controls Office (CCO), Risk and Audit teams.
Do Work that matters:
- Assist in the translation of Identity controls, standards, and guidelines to the technology platforms and operational processes that deliver these (controls, standards, guidelines).
- Assist in collation of applicable data points, metrics, and reports to understand current control status (both DE and OE) and where potential testing gaps exist.
- Assist in developing and executing test plans (either programmatically or manually) to understand the status (of observed gaps) and potential impacts to control effectiveness.
- Form a detailed view of control operations and processes – e.g., review of scripts, queries, extracts, processes, and procedures.
- Contribute to actionable insights that can be aid with BUIT prioritisation.
- Assist with remediation activities noted by centralised testing teams where findings are applicable to Identity controls and/ or processes.
- Work closely with key stakeholders to ensure alignment, specifically our Chief Controls Office (CCO).
- Support (and input into) the organisational focus on enhanced control testing automation (ACAA), as governed by our CCO teams.
- Work with teams across Line 1, 2, 3 in collating existing test findings (CAP), evidence requests, conducting workshops, supporting walkthroughs, and drafting management responses.
We are interested in hearing from people who have:
- Demonstrated experience in Identity Access or Cyber controls
- Strong Identity and Access Management knowledge (of processes and key technology).
- Experience performing IT general controls, technology risk assessments, testing or auditing against technology standards or governance frameworks.
- Experience in contributing to internal and external (statutory) audits.
- Strong data skills, with automation experience (demonstrating a reduction in manual effort in executing test cases).
- Very strong written and communication skills.

Your New Role
Reporting directly to the Senior Manager, Investment Strategy, you will play a key role in supporting the strategic development and implementation of commercial models that facilitate investment and project delivery at Development Victoria. You will provide data driven commercial advice to guide decision making across the organisation, contributing to the delivery of places that make a genuine difference to the people of Victoria.
Core Accountabilities
- Take full ownership of financial feasibility models, including preparing, interrogating and maintaining the integrity and commerciality of all inputs. This includes proposing, producing and critically analysing options and sensitivities to support investment proposals for consideration by key stakeholders, including the Development Victoria Investment Committee and Board.
- Partner with the Senior Manager and wider business to advise on appropriate investment strategies, from origination through to value-add repositioning of existing assets with any strategy recommendation to be appropriately supported by data and evidence, based on an assessment of project risk, return and policy objectives.
- Conduct and apply macro level research that will form the basis of financial forecasting and assumptions that will be applied uniformly for the portfolio of investments.
- Develop and maintain standardised financial models that can be applied to prospective acquisitions across various asset classes.
- Work closely with the Finance and Operations Groups for the ongoing facilities, tenancy and funding management of property investments.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders through proactive and collaborative approaches.
About You
Desired Skills and Experience
- Tertiary degree or higher qualification in property, finance, accounting, or valuation. Either CA / CPA / CFA essential.
- Expertise in the preparation and analysis of financial feasibility modelling, budgeting and tight cost monitoring to achieve commercial outcomes.
- Strong stakeholder management experience, with the ability to manage competing priorities and stakeholder expectations.
- Experience driving or delivering process improvements to ensure financial integrity and the analysis of complex strategic matters can be undertaken efficiently.
- Ability to effectively manage and synthesise large quantities of data for business presentations and use in financial modelling.
- Experience in the property industry and Estate Master experience viewed favourably.
- Able to consider commercial viability and risks of potential decisions and outcomes.
- Has a keen interest and knowledge of emerging trends in the Victorian property market.
- Possesses the ability to translate knowledge, market analysis and insights into complex financial and commercial models and can justify assumptions to a broad audience.

Investment Data function supports all components of data management, including the establishment and ongoing maintenance of the Investment Data Platform, a custom designed reporting and analytics environment to support the data and analytical needs for our growing Investment business.
As the Senior Data Analyst, you will be responsible for sourcing and managing data feeds and providing expert analysis of Investment data and data relationships, while seeking to identify and optimise Investment systems and data sources/flows. More broadly, you will participate in key project work and collaborate with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, to deliver support to the business for business intelligence and complex analytical use cases.
- Maintaining and validating Investment data, overseeing Investment databases and systems, and assisting in compiling and analysing performance results, risk matrices, and portfolio analytics to feed insights dashboards.
- Ensure accurate information is stored and reported, maintaining automated reconciliation and validations in REST's systems, monitoring for discrepancies, and investigating cause.
- Understand and describe data definitions, lineage, provenance, and the data quality of critical data for the Rest Investment business.
- Develop and improve the Investment Data Platform, assuring the availability of, and trust in business data.
- Design and manage the implementation of technical specifications for data ingestion patterns, to optimise persistence for reporting and analytical data sets.
- Support best practice business process optimisation for the Data and Analytics operations, consistently evolving business process with technology and analytical tools.
- Collaborate with Investment teams and key stakeholders to design and produce data required to support analysis for the Rest Investment business.
Qualifications
- Significant experience of data analysis in a data management or investment analytics function.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with data platform environments (AWS, Snowflake, Azure) and data integration technologies.
- Proven ability to drive outcomes for data quality initiatives.
- Exposure to BI and analysis technologies, PowerBI/Tableau, Python, R, Excel.
- Proficiency in SQL programming.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage meaningfully with key stakeholders in the Front Office & Investment Analytics teams.
- High attention to detail and ability to work independently

IAT consists of 3 Crews focused on Identity Lifecycle Management, Workforce Authentication and Privileged Access Management. These Crews are supported by 3 enabling teams, focused on Identity Adoption, Oversight and Access Design. Together they deliver a range of critical services to the organisation ensuring our staff and partners have the right access, to the right systems, at the right times.
The Identity Oversight team is tasked with forming a continuous objective view of the control landscape (DE/ OE) for Identity and Access technology, based on existing data, reports and self-assessments. This view will be supplemented via independent testing (automated and/ or manual), confirming a level of process effectiveness prior to any independent review. The team will also coordinate action plans across the applicable Identity teams to ensure that risks/ observed deviations are being managed and remediated in-line with committed timeframes. The team will work closely with key stakeholders including, but not limited to our Chief Controls Office (CCO), Risk and Audit teams.
Do Work that matters:
- Assist in the translation of Identity controls, standards, and guidelines to the technology platforms and operational processes that deliver these (controls, standards, guidelines).
- Assist in collation of applicable data points, metrics, and reports to understand current control status (both DE and OE) and where potential testing gaps exist.
- Assist in developing and executing test plans (either programmatically or manually) to understand the status (of observed gaps) and potential impacts to control effectiveness.
- Form a detailed view of control operations and processes – e.g., review of scripts, queries, extracts, processes, and procedures.
- Contribute to actionable insights that can be aid with BUIT prioritisation.
- Assist with remediation activities noted by centralised testing teams where findings are applicable to Identity controls and/ or processes.
- Work closely with key stakeholders to ensure alignment, specifically our Chief Controls Office (CCO).
- Support (and input into) the organisational focus on enhanced control testing automation (ACAA), as governed by our CCO teams.
- Work with teams across Line 1, 2, 3 in collating existing test findings (CAP), evidence requests, conducting workshops, supporting walkthroughs, and drafting management responses.
We are interested in hearing from people who have:
- Demonstrated experience in Identity Access or Cyber controls
- Strong Identity and Access Management knowledge (of processes and key technology).
- Experience performing IT general controls, technology risk assessments, testing or auditing against technology standards or governance frameworks.
- Experience in contributing to internal and external (statutory) audits.
- Strong data skills, with automation experience (demonstrating a reduction in manual effort in executing test cases).
- Very strong written and communication skills.
